Beekeeping in the End Times is a multimedia project. The book and the film by the same title arise from a long-term, ethnographic study of adverse climate change effects on honeybees, their blooming partner plants, and human caregivers. Honeybees can now barely survive on their own. The climate catastrophe is making many of us eschatologically minded—projecting and dreading an apocalyptic future, while still hoping, against the odds, to avert it. Beekeeping in the End Times tells a story of deep bonds between bees and the world, as the End is looming.

Drawing on Bosnian Muslim stories and Islamic notions of the End, this project focuses on honeybees and threads tightly ecological and eschatological insights. Because faith in livable, honeyed futures hinges on an eco-eschatological mindfulness.
